What is Wicca:

Wicca is a contemporary spiritual religion, based on and reviving the ancient pre-Christian pagan religions of Europe.  Wiccans believe in a divine force or power as the source of all.  It is both immanent and transcendent while encompassing the whole universe.  Therefore the world and all aspects within the world, "nature" and "life itself" in particular, are considered sacred.

Wiccans use ancient and modern ceremonies, rituals and shamanic practices to attune themselves to the natural rhythms of nature, the world, and the universe in their efforts to commune with this divine force.

To communicate with the force, Wiccans believe it to be manifest in the form of a Goddess and God.  As they emanate from the same source, both retain equal power, hence equal status.  By manifesting the power in two deities (Goddess and God), the natural balance of opposites, cause and effect are retained, e.g.  Summer/winter, light/ dark, life and death etc.  Each opposite is essential to maintaining the balance and rhythm of life on earth.

During ritual ceremonies and while working with magick, Wiccans call on many other deities.  All other deities (the names of which are endless) are in essence merely differently named aspects of the same Goddess and God.

Wicca has no high authority, no single leader, no prophet and no bible to dictate its laws and beliefs.  Every witch is as important as another and all share equal status.  Most wiccans are solitary practitioners known as "Hedge Witches but there are also many “Covens”.  Covens include groups of up to 13 people, which is equal to the 13 phases of the moon during the year.  Covens are normally presided over by a Priest or Priestess who has had years of practice in magick and ritual techniques.  The Priest or Priestess is respected as an Elder and teacher of the craft.

All Wiccans adhere to one overriding ethical precept as stated in the "Wiccan Rede":

"Though it harm none, Do what thy wilt."

This is not a license to do whatever they want, more that it allows them the freedom of thought and actions to ascertain the truth, to communicate with and experience the divine and to determine how best to live their lives, if by doing so they cause no harm.  See "Wiccan Rede".

This can also be taken as a cautionary reference to the one fundamental law governing magick and its use.

"The Three-Fold Law".

This states that whatever they do - be it for good or for evil - it will be returned to them, but magnified three times over.  Therefore witches accept responsibility for all their own actions and are especially careful about how they use their magick, for to hurt someone or to cause distress, a spell is returned to sender three times better or worse.

There are 4 major and 4 minor Sabbats.  The major Sabbats include: Imbolc (February 2nd), Beltane (April 30th), Lughnasadh (August 1st) and Samhain (October 31st), while the minor Sabbats are: Ostara (Spring Equinox, March 21st), Litha (Summer Solstice, June 21st), Madon (Autumn Equinox, September 21st), and Yule (Winter Solstice, December 21st).

The Sabbats are solar rituals marking the points of the sun's yearly cycle, and make up half of the Wiccan ritual year.  The other half is made up with "Esbats", the Full Moon celebrations.  There are 13 full moons each year symbolizing the goddess, wisdom and the inner self of the individual.

Wiccans and Pagans are ordinary everyday types of people and come from all walks of life, from all spectrums of society and from all over the world.  Most are individuals seeking a personalized practical religion that can be adapted to suit their own needs and criteria.  Wicca is a wonderfully diverse religion that meets those needs.

There are many differing paths and traditions contained within Wicca, each with it's own brand of ritual and magick. But perhaps the single most common theme among all these traditions, is an overriding reverence for life, nature, and the environment, as seen through the Goddess and God.

What Wicca is not:

1. Wicca is not a cult.   We do not proclaim ourselves to be spokespersons for the divine or try to get others to follow us as their leaders.
2. We do not worship Satan or consort with Demons.   Satan is a Christian creation and they can keep him. We do not need a paranoid creation of supreme evil and eternal damnation to scare us into doing the right thing and helping others. We choose to do the right thing and love our brothers and sisters because it is the right thing and it feels good to do it.   I suppose it is a maturity thing.
3. We do not sacrifice animals or humans because that would violate our basic tenant of "Harm None." Anyone who does and claims to be a Wiccan is lying.
4. We have no need to steal or control the life force of another to achieve mystical or supernatural.

5. We do not use the forces of nature or the universe to hex or cast spells on others.   Again, "Harm None" is the whole of the law. We draw our energy from within, our personal relationship with the divine and nature.

The Three-Fold Law:

The Three-Fold Law is the belief and principle on which magick is used.  This law relates to the use of power  and energy, for when used, power is returned to the sender, three times the level it was sent out.

Used in relation with the ethos, “Do what thy wilt, though it harm none” (as stated in the Wiccan Rede), witches take great care when preparing and casting spells that no harm should come to others because of it.

The nature of this three-fold return can perhaps be better understood when considering the cause and effect principle of a spell.  Let’s take an example – someone comes to you in distress with a problem, you help by sending out positive energy and the problem is successfully resolved.  This automatically makes you feel good about yourself and influences your thoughts; thus your state of consciousness is altered.  In turn your thoughts stir the emotions, which has a physical effect in the body by causing glandular secretions to enter into the bloodstream.  The resulting state of mind and body lifts your spirit, which is what makes you feel good.  Thus with the act of a single good deed, you have been affected three times, in mind, body, and spirit.  This then is your three-fold response to the return of positive energy.  Now consider your response had you sent out negative energy or something went drastically wrong?

 The Law of Power:

1.  The Power shall not be used to bring harm, to injure or to control others.  But if the need arises, the Power shall be used to protect your life or the lives of others.

2.  The Power is used only as need dictates.

3.  The Power can be used for your own gain; as long as by doing so you harm none.

4.  It is unwise to accept money for the use of the Power, for it quickly controls its taker.  Be not as those of other religions.

5.  Use not the Power for prideful gain, for such cheapens the mysteries of Wicca and Magick.

6.  Ever remember that the Power is a sacred gift of the Goddess and the God, and should never be misused or abused.

7.     And this is the Law of the Power.

The Four Powers of the Witch:

The Four Powers of the Magus are the personal attributes necessary and required for the successful use and practice of magick.  These are - To Know, To Dare, Attributes traditionally necessary and required for the successful use and practice of magick.  These are - To Know, To Dare, To Will, and To Be Silent.  Without these four attributes combined, the individual will never be successful in magick.

The reasoning is quite simple; none of the attributes mentioned are enough in themselves, as all four attributes must be present to balance each other out.  For instance:

To Know - Knowledge is no good, without the will and audacity to see magick done.

To Dare – Audacity is no good, without the knowledge and will to see magick done.

To Will – Will power is no good, without the knowledge and audacity to see magick done.

To Be Silent – What good are the above, without the discretion to remain silent until the magick is done?  To reveal your magick before it is done, dissipates it’s power and effectiveness.

Our feeling on Abortion:

I know there is a lot of controversy over abortion. One thing I feel that is the most important, is that if a true Wiccan follows the Rede, this should not be an issue. The Rede states: An ye harm none. Do as ye wilt. With that said. Bringing death to any living being or cell is harm. Therefore, abortion is murder no matter at what stage. Now keep this in mind. This is just the belief of this coven. As I study and do research I have found that there are some that feel it is fine to have an abortion. My question is this. How can you feel it is okay to cause harm against a living human being and still call yourself a Wiccan. I am not writing this to start any kind of issues or dispute. I am stating this as far as this coven feels, abortion is goes one hundred percent against the Rede.

Some will say, "what if the woman's life is at risk". Well, here is our view on that. First, the Gods and Goddess are in charge. If it is meant to be, it will be. Second, the woman has lived her life. If it is meant for her to pass during childbirth than it is meant to be. Everything happens for a reason and if it is the Gods will it will be.

The only reason I decided to write this is to let people know who might be wondering or who might be doing research can see that not all Wiccans  believe in abortion.

Our Goals:

Coven Groves

One of the major goals that this coven would like to see come into fruition is to get back to our roots of living. A time where all lived together as a community and lived off the land without the mundane stress and worries of everyday living that living on the grid has caused. We raise our own meats, crops. We grow gardens and store food for the winter months. We raise and teach our children the ways of old not only in living but worship as well.

We know to do this it is a big undertaking, however we feel that if Wiccans today as well as any other Pagan worshipers is going to truly get in-tune with nature you must first change your ways of thinking and living. Living off the grid is not for everyone. However, for some it is a lifelong dream. Imagine getting up every morning knowing that you no longer have every day worries over monthly bills. Yet still have the means to live a happy worry free life. This is possible it just takes time, money and most of all like minded people. All of the comforts of today's living without the major bills to go with it. Yes, it will be hard long days and most days start at dawn and don't stop till sundown. Between the fields, gardens, cattle, hogs, chickens, and other work at the end of the days bed is all a person will want. Once everyone gets back to the old ways it won't be that bad. Just the first couple years will be the worst. Yet in the end it will be worth it.

This is one of our goals of several. However this is the main one that we are focusing on today and into the future. We hope this might be something that you will think about and look into. For only those who know how to live off the earth will continue to survive. At the rate we are going we will have mother earth used up and then what?

If you would like to know more get in contact with us and we will be happy to give you more information on this or use the link to be taken to our web page.
